MOUNT CLEMENS, MI - The Chicago Crush Elite unit stormed into Mount Clemens and delivered two wins in a three game series against their division rivals, the Metro Jets Elite. Fueled by rock-solid goaltending, surgical precision on offense, and gritty defensive work, the Crush extended their win streak to six games by taking the first two out of three games and sent a loud message to the league: this squad is a powerhouse to be reckoned with.

Game 1 – The Tone SetterDate: Thursday, December 12, 2024

Result: Chicago Crush 3, Metro Jets Elite 0

The Crush took Game 1 with the finesse of a surgeon and the tenacity of a junkyard dog. From the opening puck drop, Chicago played a near-flawless game, suffocating the Jets in all three zones. The final score? 3-0. The vibe? Total domination.

Joshua Yeates got the party started just three minutes in, tipping a crisp feed from Alex Matysiak for his ninth of the season. Christopher Frachalla doubled the lead midway through the first, cleaning up a loose puck in the slot with a textbook net-front presence. By the second period, Vincent Cerrentano added the insurance, walking a defenseman and sniping bar down for his 10th tally of the campaign.

The Crush were relentless on both sides of the puck, outshooting the Jets 32-23 and shutting down every Metro push with precision. Goalie Johnny Augusta? A perfect 23 saves for his second shutout of the season. This was hockey as it’s meant to be played—fast, physical, and mistake-free.

If Game 1 was surgical, Game 2 was a heavyweight brawl. The Jets threw everything they had at Chicago, even grabbing an early lead thanks to Landon Graham's first-period tally. But the Crush weren’t fazed; they flipped the switch in the second and buried Metro under an avalanche of goals.

Vincent Cerrentano was the undisputed star, lighting the lamp twice for his 11th and 12th markers of the season. His second goal, a highlight-reel effort featuring a filthy toe drag and a top-shelf laser, left the Metro defense looking like pylons. Supporting cast members like Dominic DeMatteo and Brandon Adolfino also found twine, proving once again that the Crush's depth is their deadliest weapon.

The Metro Jets clawed back with a pair of third-period goals, but Chicago slammed the door shut with a stifling penalty kill and timely saves from Daniel Gurtner, who stopped 35 of 38 shots in a gutsy performance.

Game 3 – Overtime Heartbreaker

Date: Saturday, December 14, 2024

Result: Metro Jets Elite 4, Chicago Crush 3 (OT)

The third game was hockey distilled to its raw essence: speed, grit, and an ending that left fans breathless. Metro came out swinging, building a 3-0 lead by the early second period. Landon Graham set the tone with a power-play goal that showcased the Jets Elite’s ability to capitalize on mistakes. Ryder Tracy and Sean O’Connor followed suit, exploiting defensive breakdowns to bury their chances.

But the Crush aren’t a team that goes quietly. The third period was a Chicago symphony of resilience and execution. Brandon Adolfino turned the game on its head with back-to-back goals, the second of which was a gritty tip glove side that would’ve made Gordie Howe proud.

Then, with just 21 seconds left in regulation, Keith Watkins delivered a dagger of a tying goal. The sequence was pure chaos magic: Connor Edwards intercepted a clearing attempt, zipped it on net and Watkins found the puck in the crease during a frenzy, beating Cameron Cyrus blocker side.

Overtime was a chess match until Jarrett LaGrow played the hero. Capitalizing on a clean zone entry, LaGrow rifled a wrister past Augusta after walking past the Crush defense untouched.

This series against the Metro Jets was a microcosm of the Crush's remarkable journey—a testament to their ability to adapt, fight, and grow in real-time. While they didn't sweep the series, the Crush Elite squad's performance demonstrated that they are far more than just a second-year program. They are a rising force in the USPHL, with a core of talented players who understand that success is not about perfection, but about persistent determination.
