CHICAGO PURCHASE JR. 'A' FRANCHISE FROM DETROIT
Pete Olson and his leadership team announce the acquisition of a United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL) junior hockey team franchise. The Chicago Crush will call the Addison Ice Arena it’s home rink for the 2022-23 inaugural season. Centrally located in the western suburbs of Chicago will allow easy access for both players and hockey fans. It is our hope with this new junior team acquisition, along with our previous investment in the Chicago Cougars that we can provide a very unique opportunity for many local Chicago area hockey players. We align our vision with the USPHL’s strong commitment to putting the “Players First”. Pete Olson has enjoyed a lifelong passion for hockey. After his playing carrier ended at the junior hockey level, his love for the game evolved into training and coaching young players. Certified as a USA Hockey Level 5 “Master” Coach, Pete has enjoyed 22 years of coaching all levels of hockey from youth to college.
It is with great excitement and pride that the Chicago Crush announce Steve Maltais as our head coach.
Steve Maltais - Head Coach and Director of Player Development
Coach Maltais played parts of six seasons in the National Hockey League. He is best known, however, for his long tenure with the top-level minor league Chicago Wolves. To this day, Coach Maltais is still the Wolves all-time leading scorer, and received the honor of retiring his jersey number. Since retiring, both Coach Varga and Coach Maltais have remained very active in Chicago youth hockey at the Tier I-AAA level allowing them to further cultivate their relationships with coaches and scouts throughout the Junior, Collegiate, and Professional organizations across the country. Prospective players interested in playing for the Chicago Crush can register for Pre-Tryout and Tryout Camps in late June and through July by visiting www.CrushHockey.com.
