WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis.- In an exciting overtime showdown amidst the frigid winter weather at the South Wood County Recreation Center, the Chicago Crush Premier unit emerged victorious with a 3-2 OT win over the Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings. The sold-out arena buzzed with excitement as fans witnessed a nail-biting contest between two formidable teams in the USPHL.

The opening period set the tone for a defensive showdown, with both teams engaged in a strategic chess match on the ice. A flurry of shots peppered the goaltenders, Jack Sundhall for the Crush and Bora Yildirim for the Riverkings, showcasing their puck stopping skills under the relentless assault of each team's offensive barrage.


As the game progressed into the second period, Logan Fernandes seized the moment at 5:53, breaking the scoring deadlock with a goal for the Chicago Crush. Assisted by the skilled Ryan Brown, Fernandes sent the crowd into a frenzy, setting the stage for an intensified battle as the teams headed into the third period with the Crush holding a 1-0 lead.

The third period was a rollercoaster of emotions as Ryan Hammer extended the Crush's lead to 2-0 at 4:29, skillfully capitalizing on assists from Nick Zehelein and Caden Day. However, the resilient Riverkings quickly countered with goals from Owen Atkins and Shawn LeComte, knotting the score at 2-2 and thrusting the game into a thrilling climax.


As the clock ticked down in regular time, the tension in the arena reached its peak. With only seconds remaining, the Riverkings incurred a penalty, giving the Crush a power play opportunity in overtime. Jason Castaneda capitalized on the advantage, scoring the game-winning goal just 51 seconds into overtime, securing a thrilling 3-2 victory for the Chicago Crush.
