BENSENVILLE, Ill.- In a highly anticipated crosstown clash at the Edge Ice Arena, the Chicago Crush Elite emerged victorious against the Chicago Cougars, in a thrilling 4-3 road victory. The game was a rollercoaster of emotions, filled with intense plays, penalties, and a dramatic ending.

The first period set the tone for the game, with both teams exchanging goals. Kaleb Freyman opened the scoring for the Crush at 13:59, assisted by Kevin McKenna and Cole Darlas. However, the Cougars quickly responded with goals from Dylan Gudovic and Gabe Tourtillott. Jace Levine then leveled the score for the Crush, ensuring a tied game heading into the second period.


The second period saw the Crush taking the lead when Kevin McKenna netted a short-handed goal at 9:24, assisted by Jack Martino. Despite numerous penalties on both sides, the Crush maintained their 3-2 lead heading into the final period.

The intensity reached its peak in the third period, with the teams battling hard for control. Niko Dougan extended the Crush's lead with an empty-net goal at 19:13, assisted by Jack Martino and Jace Levine. The Cougars, refusing to back down, pulled their goalie and managed to score with just four seconds left on the clock, courtesy of Gabe Tourtillott, assisted by Andrew Engstrom and Mark Shibalov.

The game was marred by a flurry of penalties, showcasing the fierce rivalry between the two teams. Multiple players from both sides received penalties, including fighting majors, game misconducts, and unsportsmanlike conduct.


With this hard-fought 4-3 victory, the Chicago Crush Elite showcased their dominance over crosstown rivals, the Chicago Cougars, solidifying their standing with an impressive season record of 20-8-0-3. The win not only underlined the Crush's offensive side but also highlighted the resilience of their goaltender, Kyle Tyszkiewicz, who made 25 crucial saves out of 28 shots. As the Crush eagerly look ahead to the remainder of the season, they seek to build on this momentum and secure a prominent position in the upcoming playoffs.
